About Mrs. Crawford
Mrs. Crawford began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher with Fulton County Schools in 2000. In 2001, she helped open Hillside Elementary School as a Special Education teacher. Mrs. Crawford earned her Bachelor's degree from Elon University, her Master's degree from Kennesaw State University, and earned her Education Specialist degree in School Leadership from the University of North Georgia.
She is beginning her 24th year in the district. Mrs. Crawford taught grades first through fifth as a Special Education teacher in Fulton County Schools. She then served as an Instructional Support Teacher throughout Fulton County Schools from 2008-2014. In 2014 Mrs. Crawford was promoted to Special Education program specialist for the Northeast Learning Community, serving local elementary, middle, and high schools. In 2018 Mrs. Crawford entered school administration, becoming part of the Alpharetta Elementary School community as the Assistant Principal. In 2020, Mrs. Crawford joined the Centennial High School team as an Assistant Principal. Her experience at both the ES and HS levels provides her with a unique lens as she understands well the K-12 experience in Fulton Schools.
Mrs. Crawford is committed to fostering an environment where all students, staff, and parents feel valued and heard. She has a passion for helping all students reach their full potential through meaningful instruction and student support. Mrs. Crawford looks forward to meeting everyone in the Alpharetta Elementary family. The amazing students, dedicated teachers and staff, and caring community have made Alpharetta Elementary such a wonderful school, and Mrs. Crawford is excited to return to the school community to lead this incredible team as their principal. Mrs. Crawford is thrilled to continue her leadership journey at Alpharetta Elementary.
About Mrs. Silverman
Mrs. Silverman is a proud alumna of Alpharetta Elementary School. She is thrilled to return to the “nest” and reconnect with all the members of the Alpharetta Elementary community. The outstanding students, dedicated educators, staff, and supportive community make Alpharetta Elementary truly special.
Mrs. Silverman earned her bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia College and State University (Go Bobcats!) and her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Georgia Southern University.
With her entire career spent in Fulton County, Mrs. Silverman has served as a math teacher, PBIS Coach, and 504 and Response to Intervention Coordinator. Her experience spans both middle and high school levels, equipping her to support our students and community through the transitions to middle school, high school, and beyond.
She is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of every student at Alpharetta Elementary. Mrs. Silverman believes in the power of collaboration and open communication among students, parents, teachers, and staff to create a thriving school community where all individuals can reach their full potential.
Residing in Roswell with her husband, Josh, and their two black labs, Rocky and River, Mrs. Silverman enjoys dancing ballet, shopping, and indulging in TV show marathons in her leisure time.
About Mr. Madej
Mr. Madej is excited and honored to serve AES as the Curriculum Support Teacher. He arrived at AES in January of 2021, and spends most of his time providing professional development, managing curricular programs, and overseeing the Continuous Achievement Program. He has over 20 years of educational experience, including teaching Pre-K, 4th and 5th grades, as well as serving as a RTI Coordinator, SST Chair, and School Improvement Coach. This will be his 10th year in Fulton County, working both at Northwood Elementary and High Point Elementary previously.
Mr. Madej has earned a B.S. in Education from Central Michigan University (00), a Master of Education from the University of Georgia (05), and a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Kennesaw University (21). He also holds endorsements in mathematics, reading, and gifted education.
In his spare time, he enjoys long weekends gardening, traveling, and binge watching favorite shows.
About Mrs. Bassett
I am Jodi Bassett and am so excited to be joining the AES family as the Curriculum Support Teacher. This will be my 17th year in Fulton County with experience in 5 different schools and many positions including 3rd grade, EIP, Assistant Administrator, and RTI Coordinator. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Education from Georgia Southern University and a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from NOVA Southeastern University.
I live in Canton with my husband, Nick and our 2 daughters, Macie (12) and Hayden (2). We enjoy time at the beach and hanging out with friends and family.
I look forward to working with all of our students and families and collaborating with the staff and community.
About Ms. Aysh
My name is Christi Aysh and this is my second year as the Instructional Support Teacher at Alpharetta Elementary School. This is just a fancy way to say that I am the administrator of Special Education. I have been in Special Education for 15 years and use my background to ensure your student has the best educational experience here at Alpharetta Elementary. I spend my time visiting classrooms to get to know your student and see teachers and therapists in action. I lead professional development for the Special Education Squad to ensure they understand best practices to best meet the needs of all students. I am involved in every eligibility meeting and consult on every IEP in the building. I also attend tier 3 meetings as part of the Student Support Team, our intervention team at AES. I am also available to answer any questions or discuss any concerns you might have.
About Mrs. Corwin
I am so excited to be back at Alpharetta Elementary. This will be my 30th year teaching. I taught in Henry County first where I taught grades 1-4. After moving to Fulton, I taught special ed. and then was moved to fifth grade.
I live in Forsyth County with my 2 children and husband and my dog, Abbey. My husband is a teacher at Forsyth Central HS. My daughter, Emily, is a senior in College, and my son is a junior in high school. I enjoy reading and decorating, and now kayaking.
I am so excited to see what this year brings!
About Mrs. Lasker-Smith
My name is Turquisha Lasker-Smith and I have been in education for over 16 years, 12 of which were in a secondary classroom setting, 4 years as a professional school counselor. Originally from Texas, born and raised in small town, Brookshire, TX, west of Houston. I recently relocated from Texas with my husband to Alpharetta, GA.
I am a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, with a B.A. in Communication Studies and Master's in School Counseling. I also have a Master's in Education from the University of Houston-Victoria in Educational Leadership.
I consider myself a lifelong learner in a society that is ever evolving. I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, singing, as well as listening to live music, and trying out different eateries. I am a proud mamma to an adorable shitzu-pom mix puppy child, Mizz. Pepper. I value my faith, family, and community. I find great joy in molding all students into becoming productive members of society. I'm excited to join Fulton County Schools and to be a part of the Eagle's Nest! Looking forward to a great school year!
